Avatar star Sam Worthington has confirmed there will "definitely" be a sequel to the blockbuster movie.

The actor is in the UK to premiere his latest 3D epic Clash of the Titans but said Avatar part two was on the cards.

"The deal was if we made a billion dollars we'd grab the manpower and undertake the job," the 33-year-old Australian actor said.

"Well, we've made about $2.6bn at the moment so we're screwed, we're definitely going back."

However, the actor admitted he wasn't sure when work will start on the film: "The boss, Jim Cameron, he's not just going to make it for the sake of it.

"He always wants the challenge, he always wants to push the envelope and raise the bar and I think audiences will demand that of Avatar 2, and when he finds the challenge that's when we go back to work."

Infidelity

The Australian actor is fast becoming one of Hollywood's favourite leading men but he admitted being under pressure to curb his straight talking.

He said: "They try and temper me down and I go, 'Look I'm enjoying the ride now'.

"I spent 10 years in my own country serving my apprenticeship. I'm still an infant, I'm still learning and I get to make movies that I love and I would go and see."

The 33-year-old said his only worry was pleasing the money paying public: "My job is to make sure the audience get their 16 bucks-worth. That's how I look at it and I've just got to keep the calibre of my work up."

After two big budget 3D movies in a row, next up for Worthington is a film without special effects.

It's called Last Night and features two of Hollywood's leading ladies: "Keira Knightley and Eva Mendes - there's action right there," he joked.

He explained why he signed up for such a different role: "It's about infidelity and we can all understand that kind of thing.

"And I thought, 'What nubile red-blooded young man wouldn't jump at the chance to work with two of the most beautiful and talented women in the world?' I'd be an idiot not to have done it."

Clash of The Titans is out nationwide on 2 April
