Bruno Mars shares a love for British food and British music

If you haven't already heard the name Bruno Mars then you soon will.

The singer's been busy racking up an impressive catalogue of features including Billionaire with Travie McCoy, B.o.B.'s Nothing on You and Cee-Lo's recent hit Forget You.

With all of that under his belt he's now ready to venture out on his own with debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans which is out early next year.

He joined Newsbeat for a chat about his inspiration, along with a substantial full English breakfast, but he admits that British food isn't the only thing he's a fan of.

'Same influences'

"I've been telling everyone this side of London I love the Arctic Monkeys. I'd love to just get in with them and see what happens," he told Newsbeat.

"I can just tell listening to their music, I feel like we have the same influences.

"I mean their music doesn't sound anything like mine but I just love the aggression, and - what's the best word? - the viciousness sometimes.

"The dude's a great singer, I love his voice."

The music producer puts his passion for music down to his upbringing in his native Hawaii where he says music is everywhere you go.

He said: "You know a lot of it is very heavily reggae influenced.

"Bob Marley is in the air every time you walk out, when you go to the beach, so it's a lot of reggae.

"Everyone plays guitar, if you show up to a party or a barbecue there's going to be some big Hawaiian guy with the prettiest voice you've ever heard. Music is everywhere out there."
