Emeli Sande says being asked to support Coldplay on tour "means the world".
The singer is due to support the band on their UK stadium tour next summer.
Sande said: "It's early in the game for me, so to get their acknowledgement of my music is really flattering."
The 23-year-old also revealed her debut album will be released in the New Year. "The album is called Our Version of Events and is out on 5 February. I'm looking forward to people hearing the full circle of what I do."

The singer has already had a UK chart hit with Heaven and her new single Daddy is released this month.
She said: "With Heaven and Daddy, that's a certain side of the music I create, but there are some real intimate moments on the album.
"I really want to hear how that affects people and I just want to get the full story out there."
In October she topped the singles chart with Read All About It, a collaboration with Professor Green.
Sande has previously worked with Wiley, Chipmunk and Tinie Tempah but didn't release her first solo single until earlier this year.
"I'm nervous because you never know how people will react," she said.
"I'm just excited that people are anticipating it and that there's finally a release date because it's been years in the making," she said.

Labrinth collaboration
Sande recently spent time in the studio with Labrinth.
"We've been trying to do it for ages. We're hoping that we can get a collaboration together but the session went really well," the singer said.
"I really enjoyed working with him. We really want to do some more writing together as well."
Labrinth has had UK chart hits with Let The Sun Shine and Earthquake.
Sande said: "Labrinth is a special guy because he's very musical, very gifted.
"A lot of people can call themselves producers or can call themselves artists or musicians but they kind of lack that musicality.
"You can hear in everything he does that he's a musician and loves music, so I think it's his passion and he's eager to learn all the time.
"I think you learn so much when you collaborate with other artists, but right now the album is my main focus."
