Robbie Savage has told Radio 1 he will be dedicating his dance on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend to former team-mate and friend, Gary Speed.

The Wales manager was found dead at his home in Cheshire last weekend.

Robbie Savage says the last time he saw Gary Speed alive was after a performance on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ dance show.

"My last impression of Gary [Speed] was here at Strictly. It was four weeks ago and I did my jive and he was in the front row," he told Vernon Kay.

"That was the last time I saw him. I'm just going to go out there and perform for him.

"On the football pitch you can wear black armbands, you can have a minute's silence but fortunately I can show my respects to 13 million people on Saturday night.

"I'm just going to go and dance for him."

Robbie Savage played with Gary Speed in the Welsh national team and the pair were good friends.

Savage posted a picture on Twitter this week of Gary Speed and his wife Louise watching him perform on Strictly Come Dancing in October.

The former Derby County and Leicester City player says it has been a hard week trying to learn the quickstep.

"It's been a tough week but I've got through it," he told Vernon Kay on the Chris Moyles show.

"Ola [Jordan] has been great. The support I've had off people on Twitter because of Gary's death has been unbelievable.

"I'm going to dance for him on Saturday."
