Donald Trump thought being president "would be easier" than it is, he has said in an interview marking his first 100 days in office.

"I loved my previous life. I had so many things going," he told Reuters.

"This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier."

During the interview he also said he has less privacy now than he did as a businessman and television star and that he is still getting used to the increased security.

"You're really into your own little cocoon, because you have such massive protection that you really can't go anywhere," he said, adding that he also misses driving himself around.

The only official job description for US president comes from the US Constitution, according to the .

The first point on the list states that the president "is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the United States, and of each state's militia when the nation has need of it".

Along with being in charge of the army and navy, Trump is responsible for granting "pardons and reprieves for crimes" (point three) and "makes treaties with other countries with the approval of the Senate" (point four).

There are only a total of 10 points on the list, which also include the "power to obtain information and opinions from heads of the executive departments" and being "responsible for enforcing the nation's laws".

In the run up the election - and after he won - some voters were concerned Donald Trump lacked the political experience and expertise to do the job effectively.

"My issue back then [before the vote] was that [Trump] had no record to back up what he was saying," Republican party member Lori Hack tells the ´óÏó´«Ã½.

Now she is coming around to him.

"Being a president is different to running a company," she says. "I think he's realised this is not a joke."

Before his election to office, President Trump was involved in a variety of businesses.

According to his , he started by working with his father and then moved on to making money in Manhattan real estate.

Along with properties such as Trump Tower and Trump Plaza, he owns golf courses and a number of hotels.

He raised his profile even further with the entertainment show The Apprentice and has his own ranges of merchandise including Trump fragrances.

Other US citizens like Beth Howard are unhappy, not only about President Trump's CV, but also because members of the president's family working in the White House.

"These people aren't qualified to run our country," she says.
