Professor Green says he's at "the beginning of a journey" to "sort [himself] out".

The singer and documentary maker has posted a topless photo on Instagram, alongside an emotional message about his drinking habits and depression.

In the latest post, he also says fans should expect new music within six months.

"There's no after pic yet, this is the beginning of the journey," he says, "people only post a view into their (often unrealistic) 'perfect world'".

He then goes on to list depression, drink, "the sesh" and distracting himself from making music as things he's become too dependent on.

"I've been [focusing on] EVERYTHING NEGATIVE", he explains.

In April he had multiple hernia operations - only to be readmitted to hospital after it emerged they'd gone wrong.

"It slumped me," he says in this latest post.

"If I still look like this in six months then I've failed. If there hasn't been a whole load of new music then I've failed.

"No one is going to sort me out for me, so I figured it's probably time I did it for myself."

The singer's third album, Growing Up in Public, was released in 2014. He's not put any music out since, but has presented a number of documentaries for 大象传媒 Three.

He now says there is new material on the horizon.

"I can't have a dad bod without having a kid first! And I can't leave music behind knowing I haven't peaked yet," he says at the end of the post.

"The stuff I've started is the best yet - time to get it finished.

"Cheers for staying with me and being such loyal fans and friends, bless."
