CES 2012 in pictures: Will.i.am shows off 'ghetto blaster'
With a couple of days of pre-events and previews out of the way, the International Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas is now in full flow.
Keen to follow in rapper and producer Dr Dre's successful Beats headphone range, Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am was in town to show off Intel's new ultrabooks.
The singer and producer is Intel's director of creative innovation. He called ultrabooks "the new ghetto blaster" - but it remains to be seen if the reinvigorated music-on-the-shoulder look he has here will take off.
In what appears to be a running theme for the event, there is no shortage of firms keen to thrust a tablet into people's hands - including this snappily-named device, the Coby MID-9742-8.
This tablet-in-a-chair design from Voxx International provides a wi-fi hotspot and DVD playing capabilities for back seat travellers.
Elsewhere, over on Sharp's busy stand, visitors were treated to what the company says is the first 8K resolution display on a modest 85in screen. That's 16 times higher quality than HD.
Back onto a slightly more compact screen, artists were on hand to create flattering caricatures of conference goers using the Samsung Galaxy Note.
The three-day event has seen companies from all over the world flock to show products that they hope will breathe new life into the tech scene.
Quite literally, in some cases - such as this flavoured oxygen on offer at Motorola's booth. Thankfully, there are as yet no plans to sell fresh air.
