Your pictures: The beach

Every week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week the theme was the beach and we start with Lucien Gourdon's beach football party picture.

Lance Hougton took a picture of the sand at Southport beach, also home to one of the oldest piers in the England.

David Law: "This picture was taken just after sunrise on Marazion Beach in Cornwall this summer."

Barney Moss: "An unposed photo of my daughter at Kejimkujik National Park in Canada."

Alexa Walker: "At Levanto, on the Italian Riviera, the sun was so strong you had to hide under a parasol with a gelato!"

Amol B Chougule: "Low tide in Bali brings out the locals to harvest the seaweed."

Ted Fisher: "Chairs on the promenade above the beach at Cannes, France."

Miriam Motaweh: "My sister's handprint on a beach in San Diego, California."

Jim Young: "Lifeguard flags at Langland, Gower, Wales."

Tom Driscoll: "The beach at Ocean City, Maryland, USA is home to some dated fairground rides, including this Ferris Wheel."
