Reading road names shortlist includes local celebrities

A shortlist of new road names for Reading has been approved.
Among those who could have new streets named after them are late Reading FC goalkeeper Steve Death and club chairman Sir John Madejski.
´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Berkshire presenters Andrew Peach and Phil Kennedy are also included on a list approved by the borough council.
Planning committee chairman Pete Ruhemann said the names will "reflect the history and culture of the town".
Reading Borough Council received 49 suggestions and recommended 27 which were approved at a Planning Application Committee meeting on Wednesday.
Other names on the approved list include:
Andy Alleyne - Reading FC's first black player
Steve Coppell - former Reading FC manager
Limerick - to celebrate Reading's Irish community
Matrix - the former Reading nightclub
Festival - in recognition of more than 40 years of the Reading Festival
Private Fred Potts - the only Reading man to win the Victoria Cross
Oscar Wilde - Poet and author incarcerated at Reading Gaol
Per Jonsson - Reading speedway team and world champion
Pantry - the People's Pantry restaurant in Friar Street was badly damaged in a World War II bombing raid in February 1943
