West Midlands Police officer Declan Jones charged with assault

A police officer has been charged with assault following an incident in which a Taser was used, a watchdog said.
PC Declan Jones, 30, of West Midlands Police, is accused of the offence which is linked to an incident in Handsworth, Birmingham, on 27 February 2020.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it investigated after a complaint was referred to them by the force.
He will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 5 October.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, the IOPC said, following its referral of the case.
