A fire which badly damaged a derelict former care home was started deliberately, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has said.

About 50 firefighters were sent to the former St Ives nursing home in Bingley shortly after 18:30 GMT on Tuesday.

Crews from across the area spent several hours battling the flames at the Grade II-listed building.

The fire service said investigators had concluded the fire was the result of "deliberate ignition".

The stone building on Keighley Road is part of the St Ives Mansion Estate.

Crews from Bradford, Keighley, Bingley, Fairweather Green and Illingworth fire stations were all in attendance. There were no reports of any injuries.
