Eight people were found in the back of a lorry after fruit was spotted being thrown from the vehicle.
Drivers stuck on the A14 in Cambridgeshire after a crash reportedly spotted the fruit and police were alerted.
Officers stopped the lorry near Brampton Hut services in Cambridgeshire at about 12:00 GMT.
Three people were taken to hospital and a man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting unlawful immigration.
The road was closed while paramedics and a Magpas Air Ambulance crew treated patients.
A photo of the lorry reportedly shows where oranges were being thrown to attract attention.
