Cornwall Council budget: Draft details reveal cuts

  • Published

Details of where an extra £24m of cuts might be found next year have been published by Cornwall Council.

The council's draft budget document revealed Adult Care and Health could see budgets cut by almost £12m.

Bus services have been earmarked for a further £1m cut and there is a proposal that £400,000 can be saved by doubling the Newquay Airport development fee from £5 to £10.

Street cleaning, libraries and one-stop shop hours could also be reduced.

The savings options have been released following meetings of advisory committees in recent weeks.

A council spokesman said: "The cabinet is now publishing this first draft of the 2014/2015 budget, setting out the key areas where the £24m additional savings required could be made, to give local residents, businesses, partners and Council staff the opportunity to give their views."
