Cannabis plants were found growing in a house after a fire that badly damaged two properties.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Holbrook Street in Heanor at about 03:45 GMT on Tuesday.
Seven crews tackled the flames, which engulfed the roof of a terraced house and spread to a second, but no-one was injured.
Police believe it was caused by an electrical fault and appealed for any information about suspicious activity.
