Span Carr: Mother and son killed in crash named by police

A mother and son who died in a crash have been named by police.

Angela Boyack and her son Stephen Boyack, from South Shields, were travelling on the A632 Chesterfield Road at Span Carr, Derbyshire, on Saturday at about 10:20 GMT.

Mrs Boyack, 59, died at the scene while her 22-year-old son died in hospital following the crash, which involved a Hyundai and black BMW, police said.

A 27-year-old man has since been charged over their deaths.

Derbyshire Police previously said Joshua Hill had been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while unlicensed/uninsured, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

Mr Hill, of Wheata Road, Sheffield, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and has been remanded in custody.

A 40-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the crash and has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
