Torbay Council chief executive suggests post cut

  • Published

The chief executive of Torbay Council has suggested cutting her own post under major restructuring plans to save the unitary authority money.

The council faces a 28% cut in its government grant over the next four years. It spends about £2.3m annually on senior management.

Elizabeth Reikes said a restructuring could include cutting her post or sharing it with another council.

She said restructuring could save up to £500,000 a year.

The council is looking at a £9m programme of budget cuts for 2011.
