Flood-damaged Exeter-Tiverton rail line reopens

A railway line between London and Devon which was damaged by flooding has reopened, track managers have said.

Network Rail said the reopening of the line between Exeter and Tiverton Parkway would allow normal services to resume, including London trains.

It added that it hoped the county's Barnstaple branch line, known as the Tarka Line, would fully reopen at the weekend.

Twenty-five sections of the Tarka line had to be repaired, it said.

Network Rail said it would reopen after safety inspections of four bridges, one of which had had a tree stuck underneath it.

On the Tarka Line, trains are currently only running between Exeter and Crediton, with buses replacing trains to Barnstaple.
