Dorset scooter rally death: Jason James admits manslaughter

A man has admitting killing a scooter enthusiast at a rally in Dorset.

Police were called to a reported assault at Sandford Holiday Park near Wareham in the early hours of 5 March.

David Coxon, 36, from Torquay, Devon was found with serious injuries and died at the scene. He had been attending Modrapheniacs Scooter Club's 40th anniversary rally.

Jason James, 41, of Charles Road, Torquay, admitted manslaughter at a hearing at Winchester Crown Court.

Dorset Police said James and Mr Coxon were known to each other.

Det Insp Mark Samuel said: "Our thoughts are with David's family at this difficult time.

"I hope today's plea brings some closure for them."

Following his death, Mr Coxon's family described him as a "unmistakable huge presence".

James is due to be sentenced on 8 April.
