Basildon park murder inquiry launched
A man was discovered with fatal injuries in a park in Essex following an attack.
He was found collapsed when police were called to Northlands Park, Basildon, at 17:30 GMT on Monday.
The man was treated by emergency services, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Essex Police said the attack would have taken place when "it's likely there would've been a number of people in the park".
Officers have appealed for witnesses.
The area has been cordoned off to allow investigations to take place.
Det Insp Julie Gowen, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "At this stage the motive behind this attack is unclear, but our investigations are ongoing and we have significant resources working on it."
