A fugitive from the United States has been arrested by officers investigating an allegation of rape.
Nicholas Rossi, 36, was detained by Essex Police in relation to the alleged incident in Chelmsford in 2017, which was reported in April last year.
In a statement, the force said he remained in custody for questioning.
Last week, an extradition order was signed meaning Mr Rossi can be sent back to the United States to face charges.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "After liaising with the appropriate authorities, Essex Police officers arrested the man on suspicion of rape this morning.
"He remains in custody for questioning."
