Essex Police said inquiries continued after a man in his 30s was found with stab wounds in Colchester

A woman has been arrested after a man was found with multiple stab wounds.

Essex Police arrived at Maidenburgh Street, Colchester, shortly before 03:30 GMT on Sunday.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The 43-year-old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, has been released on bail until 8 March while police inquiries continue.

Police have asked anyone with more information to come forward.

Insp Jenna Mirrington-French said: "We appreciate that this caused concern within the community and I'd like to assure the public that we believe this was an isolated incident."
