Wales and West Utilities will carry out works to upgrade the gas network in Ross-on-Wye until September

Work to upgrade gas pipes in a Herefordshire town has begun.

Wales and West Utilities said it was carrying out the first phase of essential works to the Ross-on-Wye network, from now until to 23 February.

This first part of the works will take place on Brookend Street and Millpond Street, before phase two begins in July.

It would help to keep gas flowing "safely and reliably" to local homes and businesses, the firm said.

The second phase will run from 22 July to 13 September and will involve working on the five-way junction of Grey Tree Road, Brookend Street, Ross Road, Millpond Street and Brampton Street.

Mike Gallavin, from Wales and West Utilities, said it was "essential" to ensure the gas network was "fit for the future."

"We'll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible. while keeping disruption to a minimum," he added.
