A police officer has been threatened with a knife and assaulted while attempting to make an arrest.

The incident happened on Winslow Avenue in Droitwich after officers arrived there at about 16:45 GMT on Wednesday.

The West Mercia force said a constable was assaulted by two men and threatened with a knife.

Two men aged in their 40s and 70s were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

They have since been released on bail.

A 15-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of burglary which remains under investigation.

Isolated incident

Insp Dave Wise said: "I'd like to thank the public for their cooperation while we dealt with the incident and reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and at no time was no there any wider risk.

"I'd also like to be clear that violence against police officers will never be tolerated. No one goes to work to be assaulted and we will act on anyone who thinks this behaviour is acceptable."
