A boy, 12, and a man, 20, have been arrested in Scunthorpe on suspicion of having a gun without a licence.

Two people had earlier been seen acting suspiciously on a motorcycle in the Lilac Avenue area at about 15:00 BST on Monday, according to Humberside Police.

After a search involving the National Police Air Service, the man and boy were found and a gun was seized.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. Both were later released on bail, officers added.

The arrests were part of a police operation to tackle anti-social and criminal use of motorcycles, a force spokesperson said.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or who had CCTV or dashcam footage, was asked to get in touch with police.
