Man arrested in Hessle over stabbing on New Year's Day
A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a man was assaulted and stabbed following an "altercation" in Hessle.
Police were called to reports of a stabbing outside a house on Hull Road at about 02:00 GMT on New Year's Day.
Officers found a man with a stab wound to his arm and "serious injuries" to his face and he was taken to hospital.
A man was arrested close to the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remained in custody, according to Humberside Police.
Det Insp Paul Farmer said: "We believe this to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other.
"There will continue to be a high policing presence in the area throughout the day and into the evening.
"I would encourage anyone with information, or anyone with concerns, to please come and speak to us."
