Bones found on Silverdale beach are human remains, police confirm
Bones found washed up on a beach have been confirmed as human, police have said.
The remains were discovered at about 16:00 BST at Cove Road Beach in Silverdale, on Sunday, Lancashire Police said.
The bones had been in the sea "for a prolonged period", the force said, adding it was "keeping an open mind" as to their origin.
Detectives urged anyone with information to contact them.
It said inquiries were expected to be "ongoing for some time" and it would continue to liaise with His Majesty's Coroner.
