Knottingley crash: Pedestrian seriously injured in hit-and-run crash
A pedestrian has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision.
The man, in his 70s, was taken to hospital after he was hit by a car in Pontefract Road, Knottingley, at about 22:05 BST on Friday.
West Yorkshire Police said the driver failed to stop at the scene.
A silver Peugeot 307, which is believed to have been involved in the collision, was located nearby in Headlands Lane and a 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
A police spokesperson described the pedestrian's injuries as "serious but not thought to be life threatening".
Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of what happened has been urged to come forward.
