Peckleton bungalow collapse: Woman suffers life-threatening burns

A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries in an explosion which caused a bungalow to collapse.

Emergency services were called to Kirkby Lane in Peckleton, Leicestershire, just after 18:30 BST on Thursday.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it believed the bungalow collapsed as the result of an explosion.

Dogs were used to search the wreckage and the woman was taken to hospital suffering from serious burns.

Some of those living nearby tweeted that the noise of the explosion could be heard from a neighbouring village.

A section of road was closed by Leicestershire Police and the force advised people to avoid the area.

Officers said no-one else was hurt and an investigation into the cause is under way.
