Alleged IS member from Leicester charged with terror offences
An alleged member of the group calling itself Islamic State has been charged with a series of terror offences.
Hisham Chaudhary was arrested after an investigation by two anti-terrorism units and Leicestershire Police.
The 27-year-old has been charged with four counts of disseminating a terrorist publication, membership of a proscribed organisation and two counts of entering a funding arrangement.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court via video-link.
Mr Chaudhary, of Chestnut Drive, Leicester, did not enter any pleas and was remanded in custody with his next appearance due to be at the Old Bailey on 6 November.
A 29-year-old woman from Leicester who was arrested in connection with the investigation has since been released without charge, a police spokesman said.
