Thieves have stolen equipment worth thousands of pounds from a fire station in Leicestershire.

Thermal imaging cameras and specialist cutting tools were among items taken from the base in Wilfred Place, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, on 21 September.

Chargers, batteries and equipment used by firefighters for road traffic collisions were also stolen.

Leicestershire Police has appealed for anyone with information about the break-in to get in touch.

The force, which publicised its appeal on Thursday, said the burglary "could have had a significant impact" on the fire service's duties and commitment to serving the public.
