Residents to be relocated as Rutland care home closes

A council has said it is working hard to relocate residents who live in a care home that is closing down.

Aberdeen House Care Home in Uppingham, which has eight residents, is closing because it is going into liquidation.

Rutland County Council said it was notified by the owner on 21 December, and the care home is due to close and be de-registered on 3 January.

The council said it had "stepped in to ensure alternative care arrangements are put in place".

Kim Sorsky, strategic director for adults and health, said: "We've acted quickly following confirmation of the closure.

"We are in contact with the home's residents and their families, to provide support and reassurance. We are also supporting the care home manager and staff.

"We will continue to work closely with all affected residents and their families to find alternative placements for people to move to."
