London riots: Man in court over Reeves Furniture Store fire
A man has appeared in court accused of starting a fire which destroyed House of Reeves Furniture Store in Croydon during the London riots.
Gordon Thompson, 33, of Waddon Road, Croydon, is charged with two counts of arson over the fire on 8 August.
He was also charged with two counts of burglary and violent disorder in Croydon town centre.
Mr Thompson was remanded in custody until a hearing at Inner London Crown Court on 22 August.
Violence erupted in Croydon on Monday night following two nights of trouble in other parts of London.
The 150-year-old furniture store in south London has been demolished.
