Body found a week after fire at suspected cannabis farm
A body has been found a week after a fire at a suspected cannabis farm, police have said.
Human remains were found during a search at the premises in Bolton Road, Farnworth, on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
They are treating the fire, which broke out at about 13:00 GMT on Monday, as "suspicious".
Det Ch Insp Andrew Naismith, from GMP, said: "Work is ongoing to identify the deceased."
Police believe the fire originated on the first floor, which "early indications suggest may have been used as a cannabis farm".
"The loss of life is a tragedy and I understand the upset this news will cause in the local community," said Det Ch Insp Naismith.
"I can confirm this fire is being treated as suspicious and if there is any criminal responsibility, it will be brought to light and dealt with appropriately."
He appealed for anyone with information and footage of the premises and the fire itself to get in contact.
