Kirkby murder arrest after man dies two weeks after attack
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man who was attacked nearly two weeks ago.
Police officers found the 47-year-old victim with serious head and chest injuries at a house in Kelday Close, Kirkby early on 23 October.
He died in hospital at about 08:00 GMT on Tuesday, Merseyside Police said. His next of kin have been informed.
Police said a 55-year-old man from Kirkby was being questioned by detectives.
A post-mortem examination will now be conducted to establish the cause of the 47-year-old's death.
The force said "extensive inquiries" were ongoing and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
