Wirral coast missing swimmer search suspended
A swimmer has been reported missing off the Wirral coast.
The alarm was raised after another swimmer made it safely ashore at New Brighton at 22:30 BST on Tuesday.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) said an "extensive search" had been carried out including in Liverpool Bay, Leasowe Bay and the River Mersey.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the missing man had not been found and the search had been suspended.
"Our thoughts and those of all our coastguard colleagues are with the family and friends of the missing man," a spokeswoman added.
