A man who died after being shot in the face in a flat was "loving" and "happy-go-lucky", his family have said.

Peter Hale, 50, was shot at a property in Haslingden Close in Old Swan, Liverpool, on 29 January, Merseyside Police said.

He died in hospital on Sunday.

Shay Walker, 25, of Stoneycroft, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and was due to appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court earlier.

Paying tribute, Mr Hale's family said: "No words can describe the loss we as a family are feeling following the tragic death of Peter a loving son, brother and uncle."

They said he was "a happy-go-lucky type of man", and added he "will be in our hearts forever".
