Homeless scheme in Somerset appeals for host families

A scheme to help the young homeless in Somerset is looking for more families to offer spare rooms in their homes.
The Nightstop project is open to people aged 16 to 25 who need short-term emergency accommodation.
The service, run by Sedgemoor District Council and Bridgwater YMCA has already trained five families but needs more people to take part in the scheme.
An information event is being held at Bridgwater Baptist Church in St Marys Street on 9 December at 1900 GMT.
Nightstop also offers after-care to the young people who use the service.
A spokesman for the scheme said: "The next day, staff will assist them as they explore their housing options or support them to return to the family home.
"There are also times when a return to the family home is not an option and other support and housing services may be needed.
"The reality Nightstop is trying to prevent is a young person finding themselves in a vulnerable situation or sleeping rough on the streets".
