Man's 'fall' from Highbridge and Burnham station bridge probed
A man has died after apparently falling from a railway bridge in Somerset.
Emergency crews were called on Sunday at about 11.45 BST to Highbridge and Burnham station and officers determined the death as unexplained.
Formal identification is yet to be made but the victim's family has been informed. A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.
The death is being investigated by British Transport Police (BTP) who have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
Det Insp Jacqueline Thomas said: "We are continuing to keep an open mind regarding the circumstances which led to this man falling from this bridge.
"We believe a number of people may have been at the station, or in the area, prior to this incident and I would urge them to get in touch."
She added the man's family were being supported by specialist BTP officers.
