Barnsley murder inquiry after attacked man dies in hospital
A murder inquiry has been launched after a man died nine days after he was attacked in Barnsley.
Police attended High Street in Thurnscoe in the early hours of 24 September after a man was found unconscious near the Butchers Arms pub.
Scott Jackson, 42, was taken to Northern General Hospital and later moved to Royal Hallamshire Hospital. He died on Tuesday, officers said.
Three men from the Barnsley area have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The men, aged 24, 25 and 26, remain in police custody for questioning, South Yorkshire Police said.
Witnesses are asked to contact the force via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
