Woman, 63, dies in crash with HGV near Barnsley
A woman has died following a collision on the A616 near Barnsley.
South Yorkshire Police were called at 11:14 GMT to reports of a collision between a HGV and a Mitsubishi Outlander.
The 63-year-old woman driving the red Mitsubishi died at the scene.
A 60-year-old man from the Manchester area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs, police said.
The woman's family has been informed and is receiving specialist support.
Police said the A616 remained closed between the A61 and M1 junctions near Tankersley.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision should contact police on 101.
