A man has died after he was hit by a lorry on the M18 in South Yorkshire, police said.
The pedestrian was struck by the lorry near junction 2, for the A1(M) near Doncaster at about 06:40 GMT on Tuesday.
The motorway was closed northbound and police said a man in his 30s died.
Emergency crews were called and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landed at the scene, leading to long delays for drivers in both directions.
The man's family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "The lorry driver stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries. No arrests have been made.
"The section of the M18 over the A1(M) was closed, with traffic diverted to avoid the closure as officers continued their inquiries. The motorway has since reopened.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information which may assist, is asked to report it to police," the spokesperson added.
