Man charged with GBH after Ipswich town centre assault

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm following a serious assault in a town centre, police said.

Suffolk Police was called to reports of an injured man in his 30s on Dogs Head Street, Ipswich, outside the Plough pub at 04:13 GMT on Saturday.

He was said to have been in a critical condition with head injuries but has since been discharged from hospital.

A 35-year-old man from Ipswich has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before magistrates on Monday.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 03:45 and 04:45, or who has information about the incident, to contact them.
