Brighton and Hove Albion has confirmed its planning application for an extra 8,000 seats at the new Amex stadium is ready to be submitted to the council.

It moved into the £93m stadium in July, ending 14 years of a nomadic existence.

The football club said an application for a new training ground at New Monk's Farm, Lancing, had also been prepared.

Chief executive Martin Perry said the applications would be registered in the new year and then consultation with interested parties would begin.

The stadium at Falmer currently has a capacity of 22,500 seats.
