Two Sussex hit-and-run drivers sought after two pedestrians hurt

Police in Sussex are investigating two hit-and-run collisions in which two pedestrians were seriously injured.

A 17-year-old boy, from Hailsham, was hit by a 4x4 vehicle on the A267 Chiddingly Road, in Horam, outside the May Garland pub, at 03:15 BST.

At 04:45 BST, a 29-year old Hove woman crossing Kings Road, in Brighton, with a group of friends was struck by a car travelling at excess speed.

She suffered life-threatening injuries. No-one was else was injured.

Police said she was struck by a dark-coloured vehicle which did not stop.

The woman was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and has since been transferred to Hurstwood Park Hospital in Haywards Heath with serious head injuries.

In Horam, a man driving a light-coloured 4x4 vehicle which hit the teenage boy got out of the car and looked at him before driving off before the emergency services arrived, police said.

The boy suffered serious injuries and was also taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Officers said his condition was not life-threatening.
