County Durham pedestrian struck and killed by lorry
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a lorry which closed a stretch of the A1(M) in County Durham.
The man, aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene between Junction 60 at Sedgefield and Junction 61 at Bowburn, just after 02:00 BST.
An investigation is being carried out by Durham Police and officers have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact the force.
The road has since reopened in both directions.
Police are continuing to work with Highways England and drivers have been told to allow extra time for journeys.
