Jesmond: Man's death 'not suspicious' after body found
The death of a man whose body was found in a field overnight is not being treated as suspicious, police say.
The body was discovered shortly after midnight on Wednesday near Highbury, in the Jesmond area of Newcastle.
Officers cordoned off the scene as part of their investigation into how the man, who was in his 50s, had died.
"As a result of those enquiries, we are satisfied that there was no third-party involvement and we are not treating his death as suspicious," police confirmed.
The man's next-of-kin have been informed and a report will be compiled for the coroner.
