A woman died when she was struck by a lorry in Sunderland, police have said.
The woman in her 60s was hit on Park Road by a heavy goods vehicle at about 14:30 BST on Wednesday, Northumbria Police said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her family have been informed.
The driver remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries. Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash at the junction with Burdon Road.
Sgt John Sanderson said: "Our thoughts are firmly with the family and loved ones of the woman who has sadly lost her life.
"This must be a devastating time for them and we will provide all the support possible."
He said detectives were particularly keen to hear from any motorists or pedestrians who were in the area at the time or who witnessed events leading up to the crash, as well as dashcam footage.
