Middlesbrough attack: Man charged after police officer injured
A man has been charged over an incident in which a police officer was seriously injured and others were hurt.
Cleveland Police officers were attacked while responding to a fire in Earls Court Road, in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, at 02:40 GMT on Sunday.
One officer suffered serious hand and facial injuries and a police vehicle was damaged.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to resist arrest and affray.
He is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court.
Four men and two women who were arrested in connection with the incident remain on bail, police said.
