Braydon Wright was reported missing in October

A body has been found by a rescue team searching for a man missing since 20 October.

Durham police had issued a number of appeals for sightings of Braydon Wright, 22, from Willington.

Members of Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue discovered a man's body during a search of land near Hunwick on Wednesday.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, but police confirmed Mr Wright's family has been informed.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death is under way and the coroner has been informed.

Since Mr Wright's disappearance, the force issued several appeals saying they were growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

In November, a 20km section of the River Wear was searched by boat crews in an attempt to find him.
