Seaburn Stack could become permanent seafront feature

Seaburn's Stack development opened in 2020
A leisure complex made from shipping containers could become a permanent feature of Sunderland's seafront.
Stack Seaburn opened in 2020, featuring a number of food and drink outlets with temporary planning permission running until 2027.
The firm behind it has now applied to the city council for the "permanent retention" of the venture, as well as a second phase of development.
Around 90 people are employed at the site off Whitburn Road.
A planning, design and access statement submitted to council officials says Stack has become a "well-established venue contributing to the vitality of the area".
Those behind the scheme intend to聽retain previously approved opening hours and no changes are proposed to the聽layout of the containers.
